Casper Bloom is an accomplished lawyer who holds many post secondary degrees including a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, a Law Degree from Université de Montreal and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
Upon joining the Quebec Bar, Bloom worked as an attorney for the firm Ogilvy Renault, where he eventually became a partner. During this time, he was also President and CEO of the Canadian Lake Carriers Association where he was in charge of employment and labor relations for all major transporters in the Canadian Great Lakes as well as the St. Lawrence River Seaway.
Bloom held many legal positions throughout his career including the Bâtonnier of the Bar of Montreal, President of the Quebec Branch of the Bar, provincial and national Chair of the Labour and Employment Law for the Canadian Bar and Executive of the Quebec Bar. He also served as the co-chair of the Montreal Bar Committee on Access to Justice in the English Language.
Bloom won several awards during his career. These include the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his contributions to Canada, an Award of Distinction from the Department of Justice Canada for outstanding contributions to the law and to the protection of Canada’s linguistic duality and the Medal of the National Assembly of Quebec.
In 2007 Bloom joined the federal government to serve as Chairperson of the Public Service Labour Relations Board of Canada. He remained in this position for six years, before joining Bergman and Associates where he currently works.
